Story about Take Me Away
Well, I was working at the local In-N-Out Burger joint—ringing up a few orders, checking out a few chicks—on October 4, 1997, and I had this catchy tune stuck in my head.  I kept singing it over and over, and the words seemed to easily appear and fall perfectly into place.  Before I knew it, I had worked a 4 or 5 hour shift and had half the song already done (the first two verses and the chorus)!!!  Mario was still working, so while I waited for him in the backroom, I wrote what I had down on an In-N-Out paper bag.  The song felt really good.  Then I put it away and didn't work on the song again till May '98!!!  Anyway, working again (this time at the movies), I guess I was singing the song or something in my head.  That's when I thought of the 3rd verse.  A couple days later, the song was done.  Even though the song took months to finish, I really didn't put very much time into writing it.  Some songs are easy to write, and some songs just plain ain't. This was definitely one of the easier songs to write.  The lyrics just seemed to follow each other in little groups and fit right into place!
